Economy

The city is among China's richest cities. Hangzhou's total economic strength ranks No. 2 among all provincial capitals and No.8 of all large and medium cities of China.

Tourist Resources

Rich in tourist resources, Hangzhou has two national scenery spots within its territory: West Lake scenery spot, and Fuchun River, Xin'an River and Thousand-Island Lake scenery spot. It also has one national natural reserve (Tianmu Mountains Natural Reserve) and two national forest parks (Thousand-Island Forest Park and Daqishan Forest Park).

Get Around

To go around the city, taking the bus is a convenient way. Yet, given that Hangzhou has plentiful taxis for hire that are inexpensive, you may want to get around by taxi sometimes. What is really amazing is that the taxis you see in the city are nearly all new and neat. This is because the city government regulates that taxis too old must be out of business.

Another nice way to get around is biking. You can buy a bike at a price of less than RMB200 in the city, or simply rent a bike from hotels or shops. It is particularly pleasant to cycle in the lake area flanked by willows, waters and beautiful scenic spots.
